![]() ![]() Looking to change some things but B&W is a big part of the image goals. Have been using Silver Efex Pro with Photoshop CS6. If I get the DXO Elite and Film Pack Elite (& Viewpoint) do I need to get Silver Efex Pro? I've got Film Pack 5 and will not be upgrading to V6.as the difference doesn't seem justifiable cost wise. I belive film pack is discounted at present. Now i can enjoy the benefits of different types. I did used to delvelop my own B&W films but stuck to a few Ilford variats mostly. That's been a nice learning curve for me and improves my understanding of the differences in type. You can of course use Filmpack as a stanalone and i quite like that when you select a film type a description of it's history and traits appear ( can this turn off) with the usual visual example like any preset. it does push the SEP use down.īut hey.nice to have different tools available whenever. So, if you are thnking about the investment into Film pack. may go via sep if i feel it's missing something. Once back in PhotoLab ( still as a RAW) I then look where things need further manipulation/support and can continue to use the Local Adjustments along with all of PhotoLab I find the presets ( the film selections) gives you a better starting point along with some manipulation too. I've found since using Filmpack i have used it more instead of SEP. ( I enjoy Colour Effex Pro on a few shots) Of course Silverefex being part of NIK gives you much more than S/Efex Pro. NIK (Silverefex Pro) (SEP) will always revert to Tiff and if you want to stay inside Photolab to continue you will need to close the current fle and import the NIK Tiff back into Photolab. Using Filmpack from within Photolab ( It appears in the interface as Photolap and not a separate module) keeps you in the RAW domain untill you export. ![]()
